Unreal Tournament 3 “Titan Pack” Released; Free Weekend
by Spore on Mar.05, 2009, under PC
Epic has been working hard trying to rekindle their pre-Unreal Tournament 3 glory days with a massive patch for the game that will add many more features among a multitude of bug fixes and tweaks. Unreal Tournament 3 has since its release been considered a low point in the series by many after the incredibly well made experiences that were UT2004 and UT99, and Epic is well aware of this. It is clear as day to them, seeing as how UT3 is hardly a well-populated game that still has trouble holding a candle to the six year old UT2004’s still lingering popularity. Even amidst many consecutive price cuts, UT3 hasn’t many any large strides in popularity. There are many possible reasons for this including an unintuitive and slow server browser, the convoluted mash-up of UT2004’s Onslaught and Assault modes called “Warfare”, and a quick and painful transition from the often times varied and colorful playing fields of older UT games to the now popular “brown on brown”. Clearly, many fans of the series felt a bit alienated with this new release in the UT franchise and had a hard time staying with it, instead opting to move to more successful games.
